Another woman presenter that Owns The Stage
By Darren | August 20, 2008
Katherine Morrison, Ph.D. came in third in the World Championship of Public Speaking (Out of 25,000 contestants).
While on a recent trip to Boston for my sister’s 25th anniversary party, I stopped by MIT and worked with Katherine at an event coordinated by Sherri Raftery and the local District 31 Toastmasters. What really impressed me about her is how “coachable” she was. Especially because she is so confident off-stage. Sometimes the biggest obstacle to our own growth is ego. Not with Katherine!
She has a great personal story and delivered it well under the pressure of the contest. Not easy to do. I can’t take much credit for coaching Katherine, she did most of it on her own. She has amazing confidence and presence.
Pressure was added at this contest because of the Production crew for the documentary SPEAK EASY being created by Tumbleweed Entertainment. Get a sneak peak: Click: http://www.tumbleweedentertainment.com/ The camera crews were ever present following and interviewing speakers along the journey, and all around the contest capturing the “human moments” that most never see. They covered our session, though we have no idea if it will make the final film or not.
Hope you get a chance to see the contest DVD when it is released.
