    It’s only too late if you think it is, Charlie’s story proves it! Good bye my friend…

    Charlie was there when I won the World Championship, I’ll always remember the smile he gave me to this day. I realized winning was not just for me. He was one of my biggest fans. And I his. What he did and when he did it should remind us all it is never too late.

    Charlie never complained, never explained, he just did it.

    We’ll miss you Charlie…

    Charles V. Keane
    KEANE, Charles V. Of Hyde Park, December 28, age 102. Beloved husband of the late Madeline Keane (Nee, Thomas). Loving father of Barbara Ryan of NH. Loving grandfather of Debbie Cavanaugh and her husband Fred of Natick and Diane Destefano of ME and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be Saturday morning from 9-11:00 at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak Street, HYDE PARK, folllowed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park at 11:15 AM.     Charlie was a lifelong proud Catholic, baptized at St. Patrick’s Church in Natick and active in many Catholic associations. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Madeline, who predeceased him in 1993, when she suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease. Charlie became a volunteer advocate with the Eastern Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association. He visited our state legislators in Washington to advocate on behalf of Alzheimer patients and their families. Charlie was a Registered Engineer with the Commonwealth until his death, and was instrumental in the development of what is now the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International. An award, in his name, has been given at their annual international meeting since 1982. Charlie completed his education in 1990, receiving his Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in gerontology, at the age of 83.

    Charlie is best remembered for his carrer with Toastmasters International, an acive member since the mid 1950’s. Charlie served as a Governor for District #31 at age 97, and led it to receive the “distinguished” designation. Most of all, Charlie was an example of integrity, extreme dignity, a perfect gentleman, and love for all who knew him.
